We
enjoy the build up, the thumping background scores
and the entire process of projecting the character
as a phenomenon. It cuts us off from the outside
world and is a regaling ride. But shouldn't care
be taken to keep all these within the scope of
the script. Shouldn't all these elements be aligned
with the script than with the star playing the
lead. An actor, even if he gets to play the pauper,
will continue to be a celebrity pauper, making
the King of the land knell before him on screen.
This attitude makes the entire setup unreal. The
actor should start being the character rather
than the star on screen.
Yes, larger than life is fine, but not larger
than the movie itself. |
