The Malayalam version (Manichithrathazhu) had
released in 1993; the Tamil version came twelve
years later. Director P.Vasu must be given credit
for making enough changes and adding color to
make the movie feel contemporary. Though the
movie had been a blockbuster in Malayalam, when
it came to Tamil the presence of Superstar took
the movie to greater heights. Now it is going
to be remade in Hindi.
