Ratnam’s assistant in Kannathil Muthamital
and in fact comes in a blink-you-will-miss
type role. One of the rare recommendations
Mani made to Shankar to try him out for
the movie Boys changed the course of this
wannabe director.
Paruthiveeran Karthi
Straight from the US after a course in filmmaking,
joined Mani as his last assistant for his
bilingual Ayutha Ezhuthu and Yuva. This
experience he says was enlightening and
prepared him for the future to take on roles
like he did in Paruthiveeran.
Manoj
He wanted his identity to extend beyond
being legendary director Bharathi Raja’s
son and worked under Mani Ratnam as an assistant
in his film Bombay. He later moved on to
take up acting assignments and has now returned
