Though
Soundarya began her career with the Tamil
film Ponnumani, she found her star status
first in Telugu and Kannada cinema. This
was in the mid 90’s. She marked her
return to Tamil movies firmly with her charming,
gracious presence in Arunaachalam, opposite
Rajinikanth. It was a terrific comeback
for her, rewarding her with the role of
the Superstar’s wife in Padaiyappa.
Fans seemed to love the Soundarya-Rajini
combo - at times it even seemed as though
they were a young couple falling madly in
love with each other for the fist time.
Her sudden, tragic and cruel death ended
her beautiful, haunting, promising presence
in Tamil cinema. She is dearly missed. |
