"I wish I could learn from Balaji" - Mani Ratnam - Event Story

Mar 14, 2014

The audio launch – press meet of ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’, directed by Balaji Mohan, happened on 14th March morning, and was a star-studded affair. Apart from the people who had worked in the movie - the producers: Radiance Media Production’s Varun Manian and Y Not Studios’ Sashikanth, the lead actors: Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Nazim, Pandiarajan and Madhubala, the chief technicians: debutant musician Sean Roldan, DoP Soundararajan, and lyricists Madhan Karky and Muthamil, the other key people present were directors Mani Ratnam, Selvaraghavan, and Vasantha Balan, actors Vikram Prabhu and Rana Daggubati, producer CV Kumar and musician Santosh Narayanan.

Everyone from the team touted Director Balaji Mohan as a cool and unflappable director. Even, Mani Ratnam complemented him on that skill, “I am jealous of the praises Balaji receives for his attitude. I wish I could learn how to stay cool from him.” And, in fact, Balaji lived to the word in the event. Dressed in a formal suit, he was all cheerful and confident. He also showed off his singing capabilities along with the music director Sean Roldan’s band.

Balaji Mohan said, “With Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, I am responsible for four people - Varun Manian of Radiance Media Production, Dulquer Salmaan, who debuts as a Tamil hero, Sean Roldan and Madhubala, who returns to cinema after a hiatus of 15 years. I have made best efforts not to fail them.” The director said, “Rather than working for success, try working without the fear of failure. That will make a lot of difference.”

Balaji jocularly said, “I always have seen Mammootty sir as Thalapathi’s Deva. If this fails, I see Deva sending goondas to finish me off. At least for that, this movie has to succeed.”
