Rohini on crowd funding initiative for Appavin Meesai

The concept of crowd funding is something that appears to be slowly picking up in Tamil film industry. While Parthiban’s Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga was one such effort, Rohini’s maiden directorial Appavin Meesai is also attempting this initiative, which has been widely publicized in social media. We talked to Rohini on this.

“The film is about a boy who is 14 years old and his bond with his father. We have a strong cast. I picked the boy from  Purisai, a village near Kanchipuram; he is a folk artist.

I can proudly say that I have strong performers in my team. There are Nasser and Pasupathy (plays the dad of the boy). Nithya Menen plays a very very strong character in the film. Salim Kumar, the national award winner essays a crucial role and so does Snigda Akolkar of Nandalala fame. There is also Jhanavi, a theatre artist.

The crowd funding call was to basically spread the word around about my debut directorial, and that I would be releasing the film in a month or two. I would like people to be part of this. I am planning to raise 40 lakhs through crowd funding. We are on the way.

I need the finance to finish the film, which is in its post-production stage. Edit and music are also done. We have sound and DI to be completed. Right now sound designing by Resul Pookutty is happening. We are hopeful about this initiative”.

We wish you the best Rohini for Appavin Meesai!
