The film will be produced by DAR Motion Pictures, known for producing many critically acclaimed ventures such as Monsoon Shootout, Ugly, and The Lunchbox.

Talking about the project, Muttaiah Muralidharan said that  " We are looking at a late 2020 release date. I an honoured that an accomplished actor such as Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi will be playing me in the film. I have been actively collaborating with the creative team for the past several months and I will continue to support this project through its duration.

Speaking about the project, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi says, " I am happy to be associated with the Muttiah Muralitharan biopic. He is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin & someone who's made his mark across the world. Portraying the role of Murali is going to be a challenge for me & I'm looking forward to it.
