''I DON'T WANT TO BE DOING JUST THE COLLEGE GIRL ROLES''

Vedhika plays the lead in the Malayalam film, James and Alice directed by Sujith Vaassudev which hit the screens to positive responses today. She shares her thoughts about the film.

What made you choose James and Alice?
It’s a very beautiful story. It has got a lot of scope for performances not only for my character but also for everybody in the film. It’s a rarity these days to get to perform and to explore your acting potential. Performance oriented roles excite me and I am glad I did James and Alice.

Team
It was also a great team to work with. Prithiviraj is an extremely dedicated and talented artist. I am working with him for the second time as Kaaviya Thalaivan was our first but of course I was not paired with him in the film. In this film the chemistry between James and Alice is very important and I believe that it will be spoken about .

Sujith went into the detailing of the character analyzing its emotional graph very well. Gopi Sundar’s good music augments the feel of the film. I thank the entire team for letting me to be a part of this wonderful film.

People who have seen the pictures have been giving us positive feedback saying we look like a real family. It is all about making people believe that it is about real people, real family. The film will be very relatable especially to people who have a family, who have love and who have a child in their life.

Did you have any apprehensions playing the mother of a five year old girl?
Perhaps these things would have been in the minds of people few years back but now times have changed. One should understand that girls at the age of 20, 22 become mothers. So, it is not something one can’t imagine. I am playing a young girl who gets married and becomes a mother. I am just essaying a role. And Malayalam cinema is open minded that way. They go and explore various characters. It was a good change for me because I don’t want to be stuck doing college going girl or only the married women type of roles. It gets monotonous. For me it was a refreshing change.

Other projects
I am doing Vinodhan in Tamil. My film Shivalinga in Kannada just released and it is a blockbuster. I have another film in Kannada which will be announced soon. I have started Welcome to Central Jail in Malayalam with Dileep sir. This will be my 2nd film with him after Sringaravelan. It’s a unique character I get to play in the film.
