The actress, who has more than 17 million followers on Instagram and close to nine million followers on Twitter, shocked fans by removing her surname 'Akkineni' from her Instagram and twitter handles. She changed her name to 'S' on both the social media profiles. However, her facebook handle's name remains unchanged. It is to be noted that Samantha changed her name to ‘Samantha Akkineni’ from her full name ‘Samantha Ruth Prabhu’ after getting married to Naga Chaitanya in the year 2017.

The actress is yet to explain the sudden change in her display name. Incidentally, 'S' is also the first letter of the title of her next film 'Shakuntalam', a mythological epic love story.

On the workfront, Samantha is currently shooting for the second schedule of director Gunasekhar's Shaakuntalam in Hyderabad. Recently, the team welcomed Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha to the team. She will be playing the role of Prince Bharata in the film.She also has 'Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal', directed by Vignesh Shivan. The movie has Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha in lead roles.
