KADHAVU: A BLACK & WHITE TAMIL FILM AFTER 30 YEARS, KISHORE DEBUTS AS DIRECTOR!
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsWhen long-time friends and co-actors Kishore Kumar and Anupama Kumar got together to make a film, they decided to choose a small, but powerful subject for their maiden collaboration. Their bilingual film (which they acted and produced), is called Kadhavu in Tamil and Kadha in Kannada.
When Kishore Kumar G announced his production venture Kadhavu a few months back, little did he know that he would be taking over the reins of the film. When Rakav Mirdath who was the initial director (also the writer), had to leave due to prior commitments, Kishore stepped in to complete the project.
Helmed by Kishore, Kadhavu (The Door) is the first Tamil film in 30 years to be made exclusively in Black and White. For the unversed, the last movie was Sandhya Raagam by legendary film maker Balu Mahendra, which got him a National Film Award.
The uniqueness of this film is that the film was shot in one location with just 4 characters. It is a tribute to the great traditions of Hitchcock and Kubrick and heavily inspired by the world George Orwell predicted long ago.
Shot on a shoe string budget, Kadhavu has adopted a co-production model of approach and has been jointly produced by Kishore Kumar G’s company Visthaara and Anupama Kumar’s company Looking Glass.
The trailer of the film was launched by three eminent personalities - Vetrimaaran, Cheran and Jayaprakash and this is how they have reacted to it -
"The Feeling of Isolation is obvious, a proper emotional thriller" - Jayaprakash
"The Monotone adds to the eerie mood of the film, promising intense performances from the whole cast" - Vetrimaaran
"Great Effort, Hardwork, Perfection, Individuality, Focus & Love for the art" - Cheran
