Ace director Mani Ratnam is currently busy with the shoot of his upcoming magnum opus of 'Ponniyin Selvan', movie adaptation of the five-part Tamil novella written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The director's last-helmed film, the ensemble gangster epic Chekka Chivandha Vaanam was a critical and commercial success.
Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the film has a star cast that includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Ashwin Kakumanu, Lal, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman amongst others in prominent roles.
Adapted to screen by Mani Ratnam and 'Kurangu Bommai' actor Kumaravel, the first schedule of the upcoming epic drama had already commenced on the December 12 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The makers have recently unveiled the title font of the period film. Ponniyin Sevan is shot by 'Kaatru Veliyidai' cinematographer Ravi Varman. Stay tuned by more updates.
