A dialogue in the film about 'shopping in Jail' has been taken offense by politician Sasikala's supporters, as they feel it was coined with her in mind. When asked about this to Tamil Nadu's fisheries minister Jayakumar, he replied that there is nothing wrong with the dialogues in the film and that more films with good messages must be made.
He refused to talk directly about Sasikala supporters' claim of offense, but added that Darbar gives out a message that one cannot misuse the laws just because of the abundant wealth one possesses and that giving out these good messages must be promoted through films.
