STR faced a controversy post the release of Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan, after its producer, Michael Rayappan, made allegations on the actor. In a recent press meet, T Rajendar recollected the incidents that led to the controversy, while also thanking director Mani Ratnam for making his son act in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
"Coming 27th of September, Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, starring my son, is releasing, and there is a big history behind this. Everyone would have known about the AAA controversy. The producer of that film has given so much of pressure and torture to my son. He is starting all of these problems, six months after the film's release.
At this point, you should analyse his (producer Michael Rayappan) background. He is a politician who jumped from one party to another. I would like to register one important point here. The first cheque that he gave to my son as salary got bounced back and returned. He doesn't have an agreement of signing my son for that film. During this issue, when I asked him for the agreement copy, he couldn't answer. He didn't pay the full salary for STR. People were all talking about some red card and not allowing him to act in films. Everything was turned against us.
Even after all these issues happening, director Mani Ratnam wanted to cast my son in his movie, and that is how Chekka Chivantha Vaanam happened. Amidst all these controversies, he made my son act and the film is all set to release in two days. I wholeheartedly thank Mani Ratnam for his humanity and humble nature.", said TR.
Meanwhile, he also revealed that he would be directing two films simultaneously in the coming days. With already a project titled, 'Indraya Kadhal Da' announced, TR revealed that he would be announcing the next project too, on October 3, which happens to be his birthday.
This yet to be announced project will be a musical love story, and both these projects will be made as bilingual in Tamil and Hindi.
