This year's Oscars were held in Los Angeles, USA on March 28. Awards are presented in a total of 23 categories at the Oscars.

Angry Smith

Host and comedian Chris Rock joked about the hair of actress Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith, who was nominated for Best Actor. Angered by this, Smith went on to the stage, slapped Rock, and came back to his seat. The incident caused a great deal of controversy around the world.

Apologies

Will Smith said on his Instagram page that he regretted his action and apologized, "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Open-minded Chris Rock

Chris attended a comedy show in Boston yesterday. Speaking out on the Oscars confrontation, he then added, "How was your weekend? I don’t have a bunch of s**t about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that s**t. And it will be serious and funny."

Reportedly, after an audience member at his show yelled "F**k Will Smith!", Chris still maintained his silence and simply added, "I’m going to tell some jokes. It’s nice to just be out."

At the Oscars, Chris Rock declined to comment on Will Smith's involvement in the attack.
