'Jai Bhim' is based on a true incident that happened in 1995. It throws light on how popular advocate and judge Justice Chandru who went beyond the call of duty to ensure that justice is served to Irular Tribe Community, specifically to Sengani, who's husband gets wrongfully convicted in a theft case and suffers custodial torture by the police. Apart from Suriya, the film features Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Rajisha Vijayan, Manikandan, and Lijomol Jose in pivotal roles.

Within a few hours of its release, many celebrities and fans took to their respective social media handles to praise this thought-provoking and hard-hitting film. The movie has Lijomol Jose and Manikandan playing the Irular Tribe couple Sengani and Rajakannu. Their daughter, who plays the character of Alli had also gathered fame with her brief performance in the film. Her climax scene with Suriya which featured the girl crossing her legs in front of Suriya and the actor nodding his head in approval after she hesitates, became a huge talking point on social media.

Following the movie's release, it was stated by many that the little girl was given a transfer certificate for acting in the film. As many unverified reports started spreading, Behindwoods contacted the girl's parents and they confirmed that the news was a rumour and that the school is very well supporting the girl.
