The remix version of Humma Humma track done by Badshah for OK Jaanu is one of the most played tracks for an Indian film on YouTube. But the song did have its share of hate comments while it got released. Rapper Badshah, during an exclusive chat session with Behindwoods, opened up about the public response and what AR Rahman felt about the song.
"I got a call from the director and the producer of OK Jaanu, I share a great bond with them, and they were like, 'we need to remake Humma Humma', and I was like, 'are you sure, you want to do it?' And they said, 'yeah.'
I knew how I had to do and I did it, I knew I had made a good song, but when it was out, I got a lot of flag for the song. I made a call to Karan sir and he said, it is a great song and it is going to work big time, it is one of the most streamed songs of 2017. It's a huge hit.
AR Rahman sir was not happy about it, he had expressed it to the makers of the film. And I came to know about it. But then, at one of the events, I went up to him and greeted him. That's when he said, 'listen man, I was wrong, I couldn't understand what you made but I loved the song'. He is such a great personality. I became an even greater fan of him after that. I told him, 'you don't even have to say this sir, it is fine if you don't like my song'. Then he said, 'I really loved the way you took the song in your own zone.' Look at the humbleness of that guy man. That's what I love about the people from the South, they are so humble."
