Ranbir Kapoor formally studied filmmaking and acting at the School of Visual Arts and the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. He later co-directed Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Black (2005) and made his acting debut in Bhansali's romantic film (Dostoevsky's White Nights) Saawariya (2007).

The shooting of the movie Animal has started today (22.04.2022). Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is set to direct the film. This is the first time he has teamed up with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor. The film is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Pranav Reddy Vanga with T Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.

It has been announced that the film will be released in theaters on the Independence Day weekend on August 11, 2023.
