After making glorious rounds at the international festival circuit, Parasite won four Academy Awards for best original screenplay, best direction, best international feature film and best picture respectively.
Recently, social media was rife with posts that drew parallels between Parasite and the 1999 Tamil romantic comedy Minsara Kanna which starred Vijay, Rambha, Khushbu, Monica Castelino and directed by K.S Ravikumar. Several accounts have also suggested that both the films had it's central characters infiltrating a rich family's home as staff members.
Recent development is that producer and actor P.L.Thenappan, who has the rights of Minsara Kanna, has decided to sue the makers of Parasite. When we contacted him, the 'Kurangu Bommai' actor confirmed that he will be seeking legal action against the film's makers
"Currently, I am consulting an international advocate to discuss further course of action. Since I am currently busy with an ongoing shoot, the proceedings will start on Monday." On his opinions regarding the issue, Thenappan alleged that Parasite has borrowed some elements from the Vijay starrer "It is a cause of worry that an internationally acclaimed film like Parasite has used the one-line of my film."
