In 1997, ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam made Iruvar, a film that was based on the lives of deceased former CMs of Tamil Nadu, MG Ramachandran, and Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

Now, a film is currently being made on the life of MGR and popular TV actor Sathish Kumar is portraying the lead role. This film is directed by A Balakrishnan. 

The film also stars Riythvika and Vaiyapuri in other important roles, while Chembur Jeyaraj is in-charge of the screenplay and dialogues. Edwin Sakay is the cinematographer for this film.
