Earlier in the day, actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar was rumoured to have joined BJP based on her meeting with the party's National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao.

She took to her Twitter space to clarify that she has not joined any party as yet but assured that she will soon join politics - "Had a wonderful meeting regarding the changes that BJP can do to better our nation with @PMuralidharRao regarding womens safety n other issues..good to know @narendramodi ji wants our feedback..contrary to all the baseless rumours,I have not joined BJP or any other political party."

When producer Dhananjayan wished her to join politics soon with this tweet, "Welcome Thalaivi @varusarath soon to politics. You're destined to be there ma👍👍👍💐💐" Varu replied saying - "Hahah not yet sir..but soon...lol."
