Nayanthara will be essaying the role of a goddess in Mookuthi Amman. The devotional film is written by RJ Balaji, who will also be co-directing the film with N.J. Saravanan.
Produced by Vels Film International, Mookuthi Amman also has Saranya Ponvannan playing an important role. With the film currently in post-production stage, it has been announced that Arun Pandian's A&P Groups has acquired the overseas distribution rights of Mookuthi Amman.
The recently released posters of the film featured Nayanthara in her 'Amman' avatar, and the film is seen as a revival of the 'devotional film' genre pioneered by legendary directors such as AP Nagarajan and Rama Narayanan to name a few.
Nayanthara will also be playing important roles in Milind Rau's Netrikan and in the Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Annathe, currently in various stages of production.
