Oscar winner AR Rahman will have one more prestigious feat added to his long list of accomplishments. He will be performing on the 15th of August 2016, on our 70th Independence Day at the United Nations General Assembly.
Informing this in his official Twitter page, Syed Akbaruddin, India's Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the United Nations tweeted, “Jai Ho to echo @UN? AR Rahman to perform @un in homage to MS Subbulakshmi on India's 70th Independence Day”.
His performance is said to be in commemoration of the birth centenary year of the Carnatic Music legend, Bharat Ratna M S Subbulakshmi who has the extraordinary distinction of the first Indian to have sung at the UN General Assembly fifty years ago.
Congratulations Rahman!
