As Mandira Bedi bid a tearful goodbye to her husband Raj Kaushal, the actress looked inconsolable and was comforted by her close friends and family. While it is not customary for women to carry out the last rites and are prohibited from entering crematoriums, Mandira Bedi broke gender stereotypes and stepped forward to carry the bier. She set an example by showing strength and carried her husband's mortal remains. The funeral was held at a funeral ground in Shivaji Park, Dadar in Mumbai.

Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal tied the knot in 1999. They couple have a son named Vir and in 2020, they adopted a four-year-old girl and named her Tara Bedi Kaushal.
