Menawhile, the counting was withheld by the state government as the election was considered to be not conducted fairly. Post which, a special officer, PV Geetha was appointed to oversee the functions of the Sangam.

The latest update is that the High Court Judge Kalyanasundaram has announced that the election is invalid and has asked to reconduct it again with a fresh voters list that should be prepared for the election. Dismissing the cases lodged by Nassar, Vishal and Karthi against the government orders, the special officer will continue to supervise the activities of the Nadigar Sangam till the results of the election are announced.
