Veteran actress Geethanjali passed away on the early hours of Thursday. The cause of her death is reportedly said to cardiac arrest. The actress, aged 72 was said to be rushed to the Apollo Hospital in Film Nagar, where she breathed her last.
She was married to popular yesteryear hero, Ramakrishna. Born as Mani, the actress hailed from Kakinada and had debuted as a child artist in Dev Anand’s 1957 film, Paying Guest. She is famous for her roles in Illalu, Sitarama Kalyanam with NTR, Adurti Subba Rao's Dr. Chakravarthy, Murali Krishna, Abbayigaru Ammayigaru, Kaalam Marindi and Sambarala Rambabu.
She also acted in a few Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies. Her last film was Tamannaah’s upcoming female-centric drama, That Is Mahalakshmi, which is the official Telugu remake of the Hindi hit, Queen featuring Kangana Ranaut in the lead. This film is yet to hit the screens.
