“WAS STUCK ON THE UNCONVENTIONAL LOVE OF TWO YOUNG HEARTS IN CHENNAI FLOODS” - HOUSE OWNER DIRECTOR!
Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsAcceding that anchoring a reality show for well over 1800 episodes went a long way in understanding what true love is, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan opened up on her House Owner, part of the Indian panorama section at the ongoing 50th IFFI in Goa.
``Education is the cornerstone for the mothers to raise their son instilling the early belief in the child that in the long journey of life, she is there to hold your hand and share the good and bad. Mothers are bold enough to narrate their ordeal but it goes without saying that it helps to prevent a thing rather than dissecting it after the damage."
Giving due credit to her husband, helping her with valuable inputs from a man's perspective, Lakshmi said as a mother of three daughters, she has learned the hard way that a man's helping hand is what the woman looks forward to carry on in a world which had been alien to her till she took her first baby step as a filmmaker.
Dwelling on House Owner, Lakshmi said she had initially intended to package it as a commercial film. ``But then, I realised that the essence was simply there in my script and stuck on the unconventional love of two young hearts with Chennai floods as the backdrop. The reality show bowled me over in the way people from various strata of life understood poignant love and the institution of marriage. That set me thinking hard and the end product is a reflection of the inputs I could garner over a length of time during the making of the film."
On the conscience decision to keep away from the big names for the movie intended for the middle class, Lakshmi said she had a limited budget and was convinced that the script merited two ordinary individuals, passionate about their love and determined to weather any kind of storm."
Could we expect a men-centric film in the near future? “Just a coincidence that all my films till now has focused from the perspective of a woman. I have lots of men friends in the industry, learning every day the finer aspects which separates a top-notcher from the others. My happiness stems to see the talent bank emerging in all aspects of filmmaking in India. There was so much to learn and view in the present edition of film festival."
