While Biopics of popular people being made is becoming quite common now, one of the most expected biopic of a personality was that of former CM Jayalalithaa. Although there were much buzz about the cast, crew of this movie, it was recently confirmed that Kangana Ranaut will be playing the late CM.
Kangana Ranaut is known for her critically acclaimed performances and her bold nature. The biopic of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa will be her second film in tamil after Dhaam Dhoom in 2008. It is directed by A.L.Vijay and titled ‘Thalaivi”.
She recently spoke to media about being a part of this famous biopic,”I always wanted to work in regional films because when we go to Tamil Nadu or Andhra Pradesh, we realise that people over there only watch films made by their local film industry. So there is a disconnect with that part of the country. I was waiting for a good opportunity to work over there and this film just came my way.”
She went on to say that her life story was similar to that of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa,"I was working on my own biopic, but her (Jayalalithaa) story is very similar to my story. In fact, it is a bigger success story than mine. When I heard the narration of this film, I found many similarities between both the stories. So when I had the option to do a film based on her story or my story, I decided on the former."
The actress has said she will be starting her language lessons to learn Tamil well. Thalaivi will be produced by Vishnu Vardhan Indhuri and Shaailesh R Singh and the story will be written by KV Vijayendra Prasad of Baahubali and Manikarnika fame while Madhan Karky will be penning the lyrics.
