The Lok Sabha elections took place this year, and the the counting of votes took place on 23rd May, yesterday. After the counting was done, the results were announced, with BJP emerging with a clear cut majority. This means, Narendra Modi will be seen as a Prime Minister for the 2nd year in a row.
In states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the regional parties held forte and took away the lion's share of votes. Actor Kamal Haasan, who fielded candidates in a lot of constituencies in Tamil Nadu under his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, performed well to get a lot of votes but didn't win a single seat.
Addressing the Press about this mixed result, he said "Thank you so much for honestly voting for a 14-month old baby like us. In a field that is run by parties that have lot of financial resources, it is great that we've got this result. That is what we've learnt from this election.
I request the central government to consider Tamil Nadu as a part of India and look at its requests as equally as the states that you've won majority."
When asked about how he'll juggle between Cinema, politics and Bigg Boss,"Politics is not my job. Makkal Needhi Maiam doesn't consider politics as a job. I know how to earn money in honest way, and I do it that way," quipped Kamal.
