LYRICIST AND DIALOGUE WRITER’S LATEST ACCLAIM

Kabilan Vairamuthu is a talented lyricist and a dialogue writer in films. He is working in  K.V.Anand’s next with Vijay Sethupathi, Ajith-Siva’s next Thala 57, Singam 3, Indirajith, Kashmora Gokul’s next and Mathiyal Vel to name a few. He has also authored many poems and short stories.

The latest feather in his cap comes in the form of his novel Mei Nigari being chosen as a course material for the National University of Singapore. We contacted Kabilan to know more.

“I came to know from Dr Vasuki Kailasam, lecturer for the South Asian Studies Programme in NUS that my novel Mei Nigari has been added as a course ware for contemporary Tamil literature.

Mei Nigar means virtual. My novel is happening in a TV channel and I call the TV channel as Mei Nigari, a place which produces virtual elements.

It is basically about a reality show being produced in a TV channel. It is about the experiences of the producers, technicians, how the show is commissioned and the marketing aspects around it. One under theme of the novel is lifotainment- a mix of life and entertainment. Any media product which is reflective of life’s fine nuances should be termed as lifotainment.

I am happy to understand that my novel is well received by the students. It is not just a course ware for them but also is an entertainment tool as it has a very different strike”.
