BONEY KAPOOR KICK-STARTS HIS NEXT FILM WITH A FANTASTIC FOOTBALL SAGA

The film had received favourable critical and commercial response for its hard-hitting portrayal on the concept of consent. Based on the 2016 Hindi film Pink, the film is adapted to Tamil and directed by H. Vinoth.

After the release of Nerkonda Paarvai, the producer has now launched the first look of his next film. Titled 'Maidaan' (playground), the film stars Ajay Devgn as the male protagonist. The film also marks the Bollywood debut of leading southern heroine and National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh.

Set in early fifties, also known as the golden period of Indian football, Ajay Devgn will be essaying the role of real life sporting legeng Syed Abdul Rahim, head coach of India's first football team and also known as the "Architect of Indian football's Golden era". Under Syed Abdul Rahim's period as coach, the Indian football team won the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962 and reached the semi-finals of 1956 Summer Olympics. 

Written by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah, Maidaan will be directed by Badhai Ho director Amit Ravindernath Sharma and presented by Zee Studios. Apart from Maidaan, Boney Kapoor will also be producing Thala 60, which stars Ajith Kumar in the lead and helmed by H. Vinoth.
