Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsLegendary director Peque Gallaga from the Philippines died at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City in the country, from multiple organ failure as a result of complications from preexisting health conditions, local media reports say.
Gallaga is best known for his 1982 classic “Oro, Plata, Mata", which is considered as one of the biggest contributions to Philippine cinema and starred Cherie Gil, Sandy Andolong and Liza Lorena.
Gallaga spent 50 years in the industry and worked as a screenwriter, actor, theatre and film professor, and visual artist. He was hailed for his experimental cinema. Condolences have been pouring in on social media.
Gallaga is survived by his wife Madie and their five children. His wife had earlier issued a statement in which she had said, “His body has completely broken down. The doctors can’t do anything more but make sure he is comfortable and not in pain.”
