The rural drama is produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu under the banner V Creations. Asuran tells the story of a family on the run after a gruesome incident. The film achieved a resounding critical and commercial success for its performances and hard-hitting portrayal of characters.

At the success meet that was held today, the producer had talked about how impressed Superstar Rajinikanth was watching the film that during the interval block transformation scene he screamed Baasha Baasha and watching the scene when Dhanush had publicly fallen at people's feet felt that he should have done this film.
