A few days back, producer Pritish Nandy and Anurag Kashyap were involved in a heated argument over usage of the title 'Womaniya' for their respective projects. While Anurag had coined the term in his film Womaniya, in his film 'Gangs of Wasseypur', Pritish Nandy had registered the title with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association for a web series.
Anurag is currently working on a film with Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. When he planned to use the title Womaniya for this film, there was a conflict between both the parties. Anurag claimed that Pritish wanted an amount of 1 crore if he had to let the Gangs of Wasseypur director to use the title.
Now, Anurag has replied to this on Twitter, in a couple of tweets. He tweeted:
"So we have decided to not pay the extortion sum of 1 crore to @PritishNandy. He can sit on the title and warm it and hope for it to hatch into something worthwhile for his company for once.
While we go ahead with what @taapsee @bhumipednekar @tushar1307 @nidhiparmar @RelianceEnt @prakashjha27 @ItsVineetSingh @realshooterdadi @shooterdadi want the film to be ..”SAAND KI AANKH”. I am sorry that i had faith in Mr. Nandy."
So, the film's new titlee is Saand Ki Aankh, and it will go on floors from tomorrow, February 10.
