Samantha, a leading actress in South Indian cinema, is best known for her role in the Telugu version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Super Deluxe, Family Man 2 which received great reviews.

Hailing from Pallavaram, Chennai, she was married to Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya. Samantha, who continued to act even after marriage, recently divorced her husband Naga Chaitanya.

After her divorce, she is currently starring in the Tamil film 'Kathuvakkula Rendu Kadhal', the new film to be produced by Dream Warriors under the direction of director Chandruban Gnanasekaran and the Telugu films 'Shakuntalam' and 'Yashoda'.

Samantha is also making her Bollywood debut with a new film to be produced by actress Taapsee's Outsider Films. An official announcement has not been made yet. An official announcement on other Cast & Crew details is expected soon.

Samantha has always been in touch with fans through social media. In a recent tweet on her page, Samantha wrote - "Don't ever mistake MY SILENCE for ignorance, MY CALMNESS for acceptance, My KINDNESS for weakness."

This cryptic tweet has confused fans as what could be the motivation in penning down these lines.
