Mersal was one of 2017's biggest blockbusters. Apart from Vijay's screen presence and the content, one of the biggest contributors to the success of the film was AR Rahman's music. When the first single Aalaporaan Tamizhan released, the song became an instant hit among fans and music lovers.
Now, the grand song that spoke highly of Tamil culture, is the first Tamil song to reach 40 million views on YouTube. This is a massive record and yet another feather in AR Rahman's and the Mersal team's cap.

Thalapathy Vijay's millions of fans not only celebrate him but also strive to help the society whenever needed and in whichever way possible, including under the name of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.
Recently, the fans in Kanyakumari have contributed to a noble cause under the name of Actor Vijay Online Welfare Club - to the fishermen of Kanyakumari who have been affected by the storms and floods that ravaged the town towards the end of 2017.
The fishermen's families have been provided with a month's requirement of food by the club. This is a commendable move, and we hope for a lot more!
