“PEOPLE RIDICULED ME WHEN I WANTED TO INTRODUCE VIJAY IN FILMS”, SAC

Thiruvalluvar said,

மகன் தந்தைக் காற்றும் உதவி இவன்தந்தை

என்நோற்றான் கொல்லெனும் சொல்

which roughly translates as “The best help that a son could do to his father is to give him that moment of pride when people laud about the great penance the dad had done to beget a son like him”.

This was true at the Behindwoods Gold Medals award function held on 19^th July at the ITC Grand Chola when quite a few parents received awards on behalf of their much accomplished sons.

S A Chandrasekar (SAC) for his son Ilayathalapathy Vijay, Kasthuri Raja for Dhanush, Lakshmi Ravichander for Anirudh and Seshadhri for his singer son Haricharan were the proud recipients of the BW Gold Medals for their respective sons' feats.

It indeed was a great moment for these parents who were much touched by the happiness of the moment. SAC recalled that years back when he was planning to introduce Vijay in his film, there were many who ridiculed him and his choice. He added, “Today, I stand before you all, accepting this award (People’s Choice Male) as the father who was mocked at for wanting to launch his son in films”.
