''The word ‘Purampokku’ has become abusive today''

‘Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai’ starring Arya, Vijay Sethupathi and Shaam directed by SP Jhananathan is in its final stages of post production. Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and with camera handled by NK Ekambaram, the music of the film is scored by debutant Varshan. It is reported that the audio of the film will release by April and the film will hit the screens by May 1st.

About the unique title the director said, "The word ‘Purampokku’ has become abusive today. The word has a historical connection with the social life of Tamilians for ages. ‘Purampokku’ means ‘Common for all’ .

He added "Apart from the residential area, ancient Tamils classified unused vast lands for the purpose of public utilities which are called as ‘Purampokku’ lands".

Further Dhananjayan, the Associate Producer of UTV Motion Pictures said, "The film’s title ‘Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai’ in short ‘PEP’ is viral, occupying the timelines of popular social media. The word ‘PEP’ has positively given a pep to the movie.”
