Today happens to be International Dance Day and on this special day, let’s look at some of our stars who have a way with their feet and movements on screen.

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is someone who rises to the top spot in whatever avenue he chooses and dance is definitely one of them. He is known for his classical moves in Salangai Oli, Nizhal Nijamaagiradhu and the recent Vishwaroopam. His next release Uttama Villain is expected to showcase him as a Theyyam artist.

Shobana is an exponent of Bharatanatyam who perfectly blends the contemporary dance movements with traditional ones. Enakkul Oruvan (1984) had the actress showcase her dancing skills with Kamal. Her Malayalam film Manichithrathaazu (the original of Chandramukhi) demonstrated her classical dance moves well.

Prabhu Deva and Raghava Lawrence are the undisputable dancing talents of our industry who have not just danced but have trained so many people on this beautiful art form.

The name Ilayathalapathy Vijay brings to mind first his stylish dance moves. He brings in a lot of cute emotions in his dance sequences and the crowd waits for them in every film of his.

Among the other heroes Bharath, Dhanush, Simbu and Jayam Ravi sizzle in dance scenes and reiterate their prowess.

Simran will certainly win hands down as one of the best dancers of our times. Her stylish, elegant and graceful movements were one of the reasons people thronged to theatres to watch her films.

From the current crop of heroines Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Shriya Saran, Tamannaah, Taapsee and Vedhika have proved their dexterity with their feet. Shriya’s sensuous dance moves in Sivaji are something that the audience will remember for a long time while Tamannaah has the endorsement on her dancing talent from the best dancer of India, Hrithik Roshan and Taapsee was recently certified by Raghava Lawrence himself.
