Veteran cinematographer no more
Apr 08, 2014Veteran cinematographer V K Murthy passed away yesterday, 7th April at his residence in Bangalore. The first awardee of Dada Saheb Phalke Award for cinematography, Murthy is the greatest inspiration for many lensmen in the country.
He was a constant in Guru Dutt’s projects and his work in Kaagaz Ke Phool is talked about even now. He has also worked in pathbreaking films like Pyaasa, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Aar Paar and Pakeezha to name some. He has won many national and international awards.
Murthy is survived by his daughter Chaaya. Behindwoods expresses its deepest condolences to Murthy’s family and prays for the departed soul to rest in peace.
