Superstar Rajini has already had a release in Tamil this year, in the form of Kochadaiiyaan on May 23. The film received largely good reviews down South in Tamil Nadu and emerged as an above average performer at the TN box-office, particularly in the urban centres.

Rajini is now busy with Lingaa, directed by K.S.Ravikumar and the movie is already having an initial release date, December 12th 2014 which also happens to be the Superstar's birthday.

So, 2014 may be a special year for movie buffs as the Superstar has a very high probability of having two straight Tamil releases in the same year, after a very long time. Over the past two decades, Rajini has been very selective when it comes to his movies and his releases have been widely spaced out.

Though, his recent movies like Enthiran and Kuselan, have been dubbed in many languages and theoretically they count as multiple releases in the same year for Rajini, 2014 (with Lingaa and Kochadaiiyaan) may be the first instance after 1995 (Baasha and Muthu) when there have been two direct Tamil releases for Rajini in the same year.
