Ilayathalapathy Vijay - 21 years of a sensation, with more to come

Today marks 21 years since the release of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's first film as a full-fledged hero. December 4th 1992 saw the release of Naalaiya Theerpu, and now after 21 long years of a roller-coaster ride, Vijay sits on top as among the most popular heroes down South.

He has featured in many blockbusters such as Ghilli, Pokkiri and Thuppakki and has endeared himself to all sections of the audience with his energetic mass hero image. Till date, he remains the hot favorite of kids and lady audiences across the state, not to mention his large fan base among the male youth too.

He is ready to treat his fans with Jilla for Pongal 2014, with Mohanlal and Kajal Agarwal for company. The trade is hoping that Vijay repeats the Pongal 2007 magic when Pokkiri stormed the public's imagination and created box-office history.
