The audio of the upcoming movie Mathappu was released yesterday by Bhagyaraj and it was received by a host of dignitaries such as S.P.Jananathan, Balasekaran, Azhagam Perumal, Pandiraj, Suseenthiran, Sasi and Kalanjiyam to name a few.

The director of this movie, Nagaraj, had given the Murali – Subalakshmi starrer Dhinanthorum, a decade or so back. He is now back to cinema after battling and surviving issues related to substance abuse in this period. Mathappu stars Jayan and Gayathri of 18 Vayasu and NKPK fame, in lead roles.

Bhagyaraj encouraged the director by saying that even he was into using such intoxicating substances along with his friends during his youth. He later realized that his calling was cinema and after that, he was fully focused on his career and abstained from using such substances again.  He said positively that Nagaraj will now be totally focused on his career as he has seen the darker side of using such substances.

S.P.Jananathan talked about the emergence of YouTube as a medium wherein lakhs and lakhs of viewers see a movie for free, without the directors or producers getting any benefit whatsoever out of this process. He cited the example of a small movie such as Thadaiyara Thaakka which has close to 2 million views till now on YouTube. Jananathan said that this is the equivalent of the movie running in 40 theaters for 25 days. He appealed to the industry for a solution on this in such a way that the industry benefits out of this big emerging medium.  

Director Sasi spoke highly about director Nagaraj’s story narration skills and he was also happy to see the director back in the industry after a hiatus.
