Story: Vadivelu plays the role of King & Tenali Raman. How Tenali Raman helps the King and saves the people from Chinese traders forms the crux of the story.

Vadivelu – Vadivelu plays dual roles in this movie and he has made sure that there are major differences between the two characters. He is the Master of great body language& perfect comedy timing. He is one of the best Comedians in Tamil Cinema. He carries the whole movie on his shoulder, but even he couldn’t engage the audience completely doe to predictable screenplay and scenes which were similar to 23m Pulikesi.

Meenakshi Dixit –She has been used as a glamour doll in this movie. Her dubbing could have been better.

Radharavi , Manobala, Mansoor Ali Khan, etc have done justice to their roles as supporting actors.

Music by D. Imman – Except “Aanazhagu”, all other songs sounds pretty average. But, his BGM was quite good.

Cinematographer Ramnath Shetty & Art Director Prabhakar had to be appreciated a lot for the visual treat. Movie happens in the backdrop of 15th Century B.C and they have made sure that it looks authentic. CG Shots were quite good.

Overall, Tenali Raman is yet another Historical Fiction Comedy Movie from Vadivelu, in which comedy works only in parts. It is not even 50% of 23m Pulikesi & not too bad as Indralogathil Na. Azhagappan.

Rating of this movie by Common Man – 2 / 5

Rating of this movie for hardcore Vadivelu Fans – 2.5 / 5
