“TO WORK WITH VIJAY SETHUPATHY WAS INTIMIDATING AT FIRST", ORANGE MITTAI HEROINE AASHRITHA
Aashritha who is making her Tamil debut in the Vijay Sethupathy’s production venture Orange Mittai directed by Biju Viswanath, speaks in an exclusive chat to Jyothsna Bhavanishankar for behindwoods.com on the film, her role, Vijay Sethupathy and many more. Read on….
A brief intro about yourself
I am from Andhra and had modeled for many print advertisements. I have also participated in many ramp shows and had won Vivel Miss South India’s Miss beautiful face and was the first runner up in Miss Andhra Pradesh contest. I have also done a couple of short films. Right now my focus is on Tamil films and I would like to do more Tamil films. I have also been learning the language and conversing in it.
How did you bag Orange Mittai?
I got the offer when director Biju Viswanath saw my pictures and called me for audition through a coordinator. Vijay Sethupathi sir had wanted to see me in a Tamil nativity get up to see if I would suit the role.
What is your role in Orange Mittai?
My name is Kavya in the film. She is a simple girl next door, with middle class sensibilities and vulnerabilities.
How was it working with Vijay Sethupathy?
It was great. It was intimidating at first, but he modified the lines and helped me own them, making it seem simple.
How was director Biju Viswanath to work with?
He is a very sensible director, in other words, a world class director, with many international awards to his credit.
Other cast members
Ramesh Thilak of Soodhu Kavvum fame plays an important role of Satya in the film and there's Aarumugham who plays another interesting role.
Tell us about some interesting incident while shooting OM?
The shooting went on like a breeze and was over before we realized it. The entire first schedule was cool and didn’t feel like hard work at all.
Where did you shoot for Orange Mittai?
We shot in Ambasamuthiram and other places surrounding Tirunelveli and Papanasam. It was raining and the climate was cool. The locales were very pleasant and scenic.
Have you signed any Tamil project now?
One untitled film in Tamil and one in Malayalam. Talks are on regarding another film too.
Best Wishes Aashritha!
