It’s not often you get to see accomplished writers sitting in the story department of a movie. For that reason alone, it’s heartening to note that Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai is penned by writer Bhaskar Sakthi. So why writers? What is the advantage with writers, you ask? Writers are sensible and they do a lot of research on their subjects. As a result, you can expect a product that is both believable and enjoyable at the same time.
Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai has already impressed maestro Ilayaraja as he had publicly announced during the audio release that he loved working for the movie and that such opportunities are rare to come by. Big endorsement, that one. The movie, however, only has three songs. That might make you think that director Suseenthiran seems to have done away with infusing commercial elements in the movie. That’s another good thing.
Cast list of Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai comprises of Appukkutty, Saranya Mohan and a host of other debut artists. That means you don’t look actors as actors but characters. Another good thing if you are watching a movie with debutants.
Director Suseenthiran has a couple of hits to back his credentials and has earned the respect of his fans as someone who doesn’t take audience’s intelligence for granted. Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai’s story revolves around the title character whose horse provides him livelihood. Around the same time of the temple festival and when the temple chariot goes missing, Azhagarsami realizes that his horse is also gone missing. Owing to this, Azhagarsami’s wedding is stalled. Now the onus on finding both the horses (the temple chariot) falls on him.
Distributed by Cloud Nine Movies, Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai releases this Thursday. With summer vacation in progress, it’s likely that this movie will attract kids and hence parents as well.
