The
mass attraction that Chiranjeevi possesses
in Tollywood is almost on par with our superstar
Rajnikanth. He enjoys the status of a mega
star whose films are a definite money spinner
right from his producers to distributors
to theatre owners. This was once again proved
by the collection details from Stalin, his
latest blockbuster directed by Murugadoss
of Gajni fame.
Stalin
where Chiranjeevi pairs with Trisha
was released last week in 30 locations
and 47 theatres across the globe.
In the United States alone where a
majority of Telugu speaking population
reside, there were 210 shows and approximately
six thousand people watched the film
on the first day of the screening.
The on line ticket sale in USA alone
had crossed the 12,000 mark. In the
overseas segment Stalin has collected
1.23 crores.
On a comparative note, Chiru’s
earlier film Tagore grossed around
11.5 crores in the first nine days
while Stalin brought in a whopping
sum of around 13 crores in just five
days alone. This by itself a record
for any Telugu movie in the opening
week. .
Chiru’s
mother had apparently been moved by the
film and has appreciated Murugadoss on
rendering a good film with a message.
Murugadoss is very elated by her comments
and feels that this is the best compliment
he could ever get.
