Riya
Sen was considered very lucky to have been
cast in her debut Tamil film with the legendary
director Bharathiraja in Tajmahal. But as
luck would have it, the film was a colossal
flop resulting in Riya migrating to the
north of the Vindhyas. Currently she is
involved with a lot of Hindi and Bengali
films.
Apart
from honing her skills in acting,
Riya recently turned her attention
to designing her outfits for the ad
films she figures in. She attributes
this skill to her stint with NIFT
(Nation Institute of Fashion Technology).
An incident during the shooting of
‘Qayamat’ sparked off
the designing fire in her. Expected
to ride on a horse wearing a seductive
garment, Riya reached the shooting
spot in the morning. But her outfit
reached the venue in the evening and
that too a total misfit. Not wanting
to delay the shoot any further, she
just altered the dress and completed
the shoot.
“Designing
classes have given me an insight into dressing
and I prefer to dress in a simple yet stunning
manner”, she adds. Loud colours and
cuts are a big no-no with this slim actress
despite her sexy image. Now, designing her
costumes for ad films has become her responsibility.
Her skills can be extended to films provided
the director agrees.
Riya has all praise for Raghuvendra Singh
Rathore who is a family friend and who has
helped her get into NIFT. She is fond of
Raghuvendra’s clothes as they are
simple and are never overdone or under done.
