In
the tinsel world luck plays the key
word. Just because a film has begun,
it does not necessarily mean that
it would be completed. And if it all
it gets completed, no one can assure
of its success. Even if it is a block
buster, one cannot be sure about the
producer reaping good harvest. Even
if producers recover their money,
the same thing cannot be said about
the Distributors. There are so many
ifs and buts in this glamour factory.
In such a situation, it is not surprising
to note that Namitha starrer English
film ‘Maya’ is stalled
due to financial reasons.
Salary
and daily allowances (baata) was not given
to the workers associated with this film
for three days resulting in them stopping
the work. Shooting was progressing in Ooty
when this incident happened. The crew even
waited for four more days to collect the
money due to them and resume work. But the
producer did not yield which culminated
in a complaint to Fepsi by the staff involved.
The
story of the film is very interesting
with Namitha playing a crucial role.
Namitha falls in love with an English
man but his folks kill her not withstanding
this. Hence she emerges as a ghost,
trying to take her estranged lover
also with her. As expected the film
would emphasize on Namitha as a glamour
element. Artists from outside India
are brought to Ooty and the film is
almost near completion when the shooting
was stalled for financial reasons.
It is expected that this issue will
be resolved amicably with the intervention
of FEFSI (Film Employees’ Federation
of South India). Let us all hope that
Namitha’s maiden English movie
would sail smoothly and bring cheer
to her fans all around.
