Indian
movies are doing good business in the United
States and Tamil movie stars are much sought
after – this upbeat statement is uttered
by none other than David Hopper, who serves
as the United States Assistant Ambassador
to India. A special screening of the latest
Kamal flick ‘Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu’
was arranged for him in Chennai recently.
An
obviously impressed David expressed
his liking towards Indian cinema in
a press meet immediately after the
screening. Movies from India register
a good income in the States more than
the other language movies like Spanish
and French, David said. This results
in the enhancement of culture, economy
and business, he opined.
Tamil movie stars have a huge fan
following in the States, said David.
I was able to follow ‘Vettaiyadu
Vilaiyadu’ because of its content
in English and the subject dealing
was easy to understand, he added.
When
Hollywood movies are categorized into action,
comedy and romantic, Indian movies are a
blend of these three elements and this aspect
make them much more interesting, David concluded.
