This
year’s most excepted wedding ceremony
– Surya and Jo’s – took
place at the Park Sheraton Hotel in a grandeur
manner. Surya tied the ceremonious ‘Thali’
around Jyothika’s neck in the magnificently
decorated stage of the Maubari Hall at Park
Sheraton Hotel, Adyar. The wedding ceremony
started at 7.00 a.m. today morning.
Sivakumar’s
wife lighted the Kuttuvilakku on the stage
to mark the beginning of the ceremony. Surya
dressed in a white silk dhothi and silk
shirt walked to the stage and received blessings
from his parents. After a while Jyothika,
dressed in a gorgeous pink wedding sari
– which is reportedly worth Rs. 3
lakh – walked up to the stage and
received blessing from her parents before
being seated for the ceremonious rituals.
Sivakumar
took the Thali from the priest and
sought blessings of Chief Minister
Karunanidhi before passing it on to
Surya for wearing in Jyothika’s
neck. After this, Surya and Jo touched
the feet of Karunanidhi who kissed
Surya on his palm and expressed his
pleasure and presented them each with
a bouquet of flowers. The couple then
touched the feet of both their parents
and received blessings.
Jyothika was accompanied by her sisters
Nagma and Roshni to the stage who
seemed to be more than delighted for
their darling sister. Numerous guests
were present in the wedding ceremony
from both Surya’s side and from
Jyothika’s side.

Jyothika’s splendid wedding sari was
a stunner and it looked elegant in pink
with numerous Jari work on the seemingly
happy girl. Jyothika’s blush was obvious
on her face despite the make up. Her other
sisters Nagma and Roshni blessed their sister
wearing a tilak on her forehead.
Kamal Hassan, Dhanush - Aiswarya, Prabhu,
Ajith – Shalini, Sarathkumar –
Radhika, Satyaraj, Manorama, and Maestro
Ilayaraja were among the prominent film
personalities who attended the wedding.
Union Minister Dayanidi Maran and one of
the leaders of the Communist party Nallakannu
were among the other VIPs to attend the
ceremony.
Stringent security arrangements were made
in the Park Sheraton Hotel fearing security
threats to the event and only guests with
marriage invitation are allowed to participate
in the ceremony.
